Assos Kefalonia

Assos - a small quiet village and a great place to visit.

Assos
Assos is tiny but picturesque village that clings and curls around the narrow neck of a peninsula on the way to Fiskardo. There are shaded tables outside the tavernas in the small harbour where it is easy to be absorbed by its relaxed atmosphere and allow time to melt away but there are things to do which include wandering up to the Venetian castle.

Assos is a great place to take photos as the village is beautiful with some very photogenic parts - its nearest beach is the famous Myrtos beach which is a short bus ride away to the south of Assos.

The village is virtually untouched by tourism, with a quiet village square with a few bars and resturants around the small harbour and the clear blue water lapping at the boats. It is a very quite place so is not ideal for childern but for adults it is a perfect place to relax, sample the local wine and enjoy a meal of fish caught freshly that morning.

You cannot really call Assos a resort as is not a holiday resort as such - it is more a place to visit or possibly to base yourself if you want to relax in between trips to other towns around the island. However it is beautiful and if you are in the north or the island you should pencil it in for a visit.
