The islands scenery is so different to that of the other Greek islands, even though Corfu and Zante are so close neither manages to afford the same lush ambience of the beautiful Kefalonia. The island’s people are fantasitc, known for their friendly banter and raw sense of humour, while the island may have a relaxed atmosphere its people are forward thinking and manage to weave the old ways into modern culture. Kefalonia is far from old fashioned as has some of the most trendy apartments, hotels and beaches in the Ionian islands!

Kefalonia was devastated by an earthquake in 1953 which has given rise to a new modern island, reborn from the ruins with new buildings and a new style that is wonderful, especially when complimented by the beautiful weather and clear blue sea’s that encompas the island.
Tourism in kefalonia is still in its infancy, most of the resorts are comparatively small however the services are in place to make both the night and day of your holiday a wonderful experience.

The food in Kefalonia is typically Greek although all resorts have a large choice of food to suit everyone. The food on the island is generally high quality as the Ioanian people enjoy good food and meal times are often the highlight of the day. The island is also well stocked with drink, with many brands available from locally produced beer and wine to imported national brands.
