Fiskardo in Kefalonia is the perfect place to relax with a glass of wine watching the stunning sunsets over the eucalyptus trees and across the bay. Chalikeri is a quiet sleepy hamlet giving you the perfect opportunity to chill out completely, while only 7km’s away you have Fiskardo with its lively cafes and tavernas.



Fiscardo (as it is sometimes known) is a picture postcard harbour set in a natural bay and is a beautiful fishing village about fifty kilometers away from the capital of Kefalonia, Argostoli. The village of Fiscardo is well known for being one of the few villages that wasn’t destroyed by the strong earthquakes which struck Kefalonia in 1953 damaging many of its buildings. To this day the village remains intact and many of the houses that you will see date back to the Venitian period. The village takes its name from Norman Robert Guiscard who was killed trying to conquer the island back in 1085.

It is situated at the very northern tip of the island and is strikingly beautiful, with much of its traditional architecture intact. Enjoy a meal and drink at the quayside and watch the world go by.

One of the most beautiful features of the village are the red roofed houses that line the shore of the bay giving an amzing character and charm that few villages on the island can match – these are all traditional Kefalonian houses and date back to Ventetian times. Also, if you fancy a break from relaxing you can visit the headland to see the wonderful Byzantine church or perhaps re-visit history by visiting the Roman digg that is taking place just up the coast.

Fiskardo is featured in tours offered by package holiday operators from other parts of the island but it is in fact a small resort of its own and makes a nice holiday destination. It has a small shingle beach and is perfect for snorkeling and swimming.

Swimming pools and ample parking space are a standard feature across all accommodation types. Accommodation facilities in Fiscardo are rated between 2-4 stars in accordance with international standards and generally tend to be very spacious in layout. While not really ideal for everyone Fiskardo is a beautiful area of the island and one that is great to explore.
