THE GREEK LANGUAGE     

Many Greeks speak good English  and it is now their official second language. However, some knowledge of the Greek language is not only useful to help you get by but can enhance the pleasure of your holiday enormously.
The Greeks really warm to you if you make the slightest effort with their language- particularly the older people.

Don't worry about pronunciation to start with - just give it a go. No matter how little English a Greek person may know, they will always try and are keen to learn - so take a leaf from their book and go for it. As long as you make the effort the Greeks will love you for it and once you can string a few words together, you may find their hospitality overwhelming.

If you don't have time to learn the alphabet before you go on holiday - then at least learn a few phrases. Here are one or two to get you going.
