Island Hopping and Daytrips from Kefalonia

With a little prior planning it is possible to visit other islands whilst on holiday in Kefalonia. Indeed the island is well-placed to easily get you to some of the other Ionian Islands. The first thing you need to do is get permission from the car hire company you will be using. After that it is all relatively simple.

From Argostoli or Poros it is extremely easy to jump on a ferry to Killini and the Peloponnese. This allows you to then head to Olympia, Mani and other beautiful regions on the south. Alternatively you could head north and check out the ancient historical sites of Argolid (mostly Mycenaean) and Corinth or go down to the ancient oracle at Delphi.

Other islands worth a look are Zante and Lefkas. Lefkas can be reached easily with a ferry from Sami or Fiskardo whilst you can get to Zante from the remote port at Peratata.

If you don’t want to do all of the driving yourself it is easy enough to join a bus tour that will take you over on the ferry and then provide a guided tour of the most important sights on neighbouring islands. Pop into the KTEL office in Argostoli bus station for details of daily coach tours.
